Team USA's World Cup roster

Paolo Banchero

Banchero plays power forward for the Orlando Magic, but he may be utilized at the center position by head coach Steve Kerr for Team USA.

He averaged 20.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game for the Magic last season.

Mikal Bridges

Bridges is one of three former Villanova stars to be selected for Team USA’s World Cup lineup.

He has turned into an all-around star since joining the Brooklyn Nets in a midseason trade last campaign, averaging 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.0 steals in 27 games played.

Jalen Brunson

Brunson played with Bridges in Villanova’s championship-winning team in 2016. They’re back together, playing for the Stars and Stripes in the World Cup.

Kerr said that Brunson is a ‘natural leader’ for this young group of guys, per ESPN. He impressed in his first season with the New York Knicks, averaging 24.0 points and 6.2 assists per game.

Anthony Edwards

Edwards is expected to be in the starting lineup for Team USA in the World Cup. He dazzled in their win over Puerto Rico, scoring 15 points and recording four steals in the exhibition match, per NBA.com.

The 22-year-old Wolves star averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game last season.

Tyrese Haliburton

Haliburton was part of USA Basketball’s U19 team that won gold at the World Cup in 2019. He will look to replicate that feat with the senior team in 2023.

He has established himself as one of the NBA’s best young stars, averaging 20.7 points and 10.4 assists per game for the Indiana Pacers last season.

Brandon Ingram

Ingram is expected to be one of Team USA’s go-to scorers in the World Cup.

He has fully embraced that role with the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging 24.7 points per game last season. Ingram was part of the first starting lineup Kerr sent out for Team USA this summer.

Jaren Jackson Jr.

Jackson won the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award last season.

Kerr will be relying on the Memphis Grizzlies star’s defensive acumen to help stop their opponents’ attacks inside the paint. He showed he could score, too, recording 12 points in the 117-74 win over Puerto Rico.

Cameron Johnson

Johnson is one of three players who are making their debut for Team USA at this year’s World Cup.

He showed his shooting prowess in the win against Puerto Rico, scoring 15 points in the pre-tournament exhibition.

Josh Hart

Hart is another player who’s making his first stint for Team USA. He will be teaming up with Brunson again, having played together with the guard at Villanova and the New York Knicks.

He averaged 10.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game after being dealt to the Knicks at last season’s trade deadline.

Walker Kessler

Kessler impressed in his rookie season with the Utah Jazz, averaging 9.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per contest.

He saw little action in Team USA’s game against Puerto Rico, scoring five points and grabbing four rebounds in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter.

Bobby Portis

Portis earned a spot in Team USA’s World Cup roster after averaging 14.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game last season for the Milwaukee Bucks.

He scored 11 points in the Americans’ win over Puerto Rico.

Austin Reaves

Reaves secured a spot in Team USA’s World Cup roster after starring for the Los Angeles Lakers during their playoff run last season.

The chemistry is evident between him and Haliburton in the second unit, with the duo combining for 16 assists and just two turnovers in the win against Puerto Rico.

Curry names best NBA shooters

Sports Brief also reported on Steph Curry naming his best shooters in the NBA.

The Golden State Warriors veteran included his brother, Seth Curry, on the list.

Also making the list were his teammate, Klay Thompson, plus Damian Lillard.
