Ball out for the season?
He left for the locker room after the injury, with X-rays revealing the fracture. The Hornets announced the injury shortly after their 117-106 victory over the Pistons.
The team did not offer an initial prognosis or timetable for Ball’s recovery, per Yahoo! Sports. Given that the Hornets are out of the playoff picture, they are expected to shut Ball down for the rest of the season.
The Hornets are currently in 14th place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-43 record.
Ball contributed to one of Charlotte’s rare wins on Monday, with the third-year guard dropping 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists in 21 minutes of action.
Ball's injuries hampered Charlotte
It has been a nightmarish season for Ball, who has missed time at various points of the campaign because of ankle issues.
Monday's matchup against Detroit was just his 36th game of the 2022-23 season. Ball’s lack of availability is one of the reasons the Hornets are languishing near the bottom of the team standings. Charlotte’s record is worse than every team in the Eastern Conference except Detroit.
