Here we go again.

James injured ankle in Dallas

James suffered the injury when driving to the basket late in the third quarter of their game against the Mavs. He stayed on the floor for several minutes, with James captured on camera saying, “I heard a pop.”

He continued playing and helped the Lakers escape Dallas with a remarkable 111-108 win. It seems that victory came at a huge price, with LeBron now out for the Lakers’ playoff push.

Are the Lakers in trouble?

James’ injury comes at a terrible time for the Lakers as they look to secure that playoff spot in the Western Conference. They are in 12th place in the West with a 29-32 record, per Bleacher Report.

With James possibly out for multiple weeks, the onus is on Anthony Davis to hold the fort for the Lakers while his superstar partner is sidelined. He will have some big shoes to fill, though, with James averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game this season.

LeBron's injuries mounting this season

This is not the first time the league's new scoring king suffered an injury scare in the past couple of weeks. Sports Brief recently reported on LeBron injuring his hand in the NBA All-Star Game.

The injury happened during the second quarter of the exhibition when he tried to block Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam's layup.

James was also dealing with soreness in his left ankle before All-Star weekend.
