NBA Players and Legends React to LeBron James Breaking the Scoring Record

LeBron James grabbed the headlines on Tuesday, after surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time scoring leader, in the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Fellow NBA players and legends were quick to pay tribute to James as they celebrated the King’s achievement on social media.

Magic Johnson took to Twitter to pay homage to the Lakers star, congratulating him for breaking the scoring record.

The Hall of Famer added that he never thought he would see two NBA players score at least 38,000 points in his lifetime, per Yahoo!

Players pay tribute to LeBron

Stephen Curry, who is a legend in his own right, congratulated James, writing that what the Lakers star did was 'legendary'.

Minnesota Timberwolves center, Karl-Anthony Towns wrote that he had witnessed greatness and history.

Chicago Bulls star, DeMar DeRozan described James’ feat as incredible while Atlanta Hawks forward, Bogdan Bogdanovic saluted LeBron for being a true champion and an unbelievable competitor.

New York Knicks guard, Jalen Brunson and Philadelphia 76ers superstar, James Harden also offered their congratulations to the four-time MVP. Brunson used the word 'history' in his tweet while Harden posted 'One of One' when describing James.

Cleveland Cavaliers star, Donovan Mitchell and Detroit Pistons forward, Marvin Bagley shared the same reaction, posting 'WOW' in their respective tweets.

ESPN commentator, Mark Jackson also offered plaudits to the King, mentioning the word 'greatness' in his post about LeBron.

Tyrese Haliburton, who has been making waves for the Indiana Pacers this season, gave a shout out to LeBron for his historic feat. He wrote that the word 'generational' could not even explain his accomplishments.

Former teammate, Larry Nance Jr. offered his opinion on the GOAT debate with his tweet, writing 'First name greatest, last name ever'.

Jaylen Brown had the same point of view, tweeting 'The greatest!'

Paul Pierce, who waged some great battles against James when he was part of the Celtics, wrote that it was an honor to match up with him. He added that LeBron truly was the king.

Sports Brief recently reported on James breaking Abdul-Jabbar's record for scoring in the NBA.

LeBron scored 38 points against the Thunder, with the record-breaking basket coming near the end of the third quarter.

Play was stopped after that possession, with the NBA congratulating James for his incredible accomplishment.
