According to Complete Sports, Lookman’s impressive performance has earned the 26-year-old winger a nomination for the Europa League Player of the Week by UEFA.

The Nigerian winger will battle for the award against AS Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar who also had an impressive outing against Bayer Leverkusen despite conceding two goals against the Germans.

Svilar made 12 saves to keep Roma in the tie before making an error that brought Leverkusen into the tie and then conceding another in added time as the Italians crashed out after an aggregate 4-2 loss.

Lookman vs Boniface in final

Meanwhile, Super Eagles forwards Lookman and Victor Boniface will square off in the Europa League final after Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen secured their spots in Dublin, Soccernet reports.

Atalanta booked their spot in the final after a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Marseille in the second leg in Italy after the first tie had ended 1-1 a week ago.

Leverkusen, on the other hand, did not need to call on Boniface as they battled from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Roma at the Bay Arena to qualify for the Europa League final 4-2 on aggregate.

Lookman inspires Atalanta to final

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Lookman was the star of the show as Atalanta qualified for the Europa League final after a stellar display from the Super Eagles winger against Marseille.

The Nigerian winger scored and delivered an assist as the Serie A side recorded a 3-0 victory at the Gewiss Stadium on Thursday night, May 9.

The Italian side will face Bayer Leverkusen in the final later this month after the Bundesliga champions defeated AS Roma in the concurrent semi-final.
