New Southampton winger, Kamaldeen Sulemana has revealed that his move to Stade Rennais in France was a risk.

The Ghana international left Denmark at a young age to sign for Stade Rennais, when he was just beginning his professional career abroad.

After just a season with FC Nordsjaelland, 18-year-old Sulemana was on the radar of several clubs including Ajax, Manchester United and Liverpool.

However, he decided to move to France after Rennais showed interest in signing him.

Having sealed a move to England after a season-and-a-half in Ligue 1, the 20-year-old insists it was a risk he was ready to take.

“Moving to France was a risk, but I was willing to take it because I felt like at that moment it was the best thing for me," he told Southampton media.
“I think overall in France I’m happy with what happened, obviously we had some setbacks with injuries and everything. But I started very well and after the injury I had some pretty good games."

Sulemana signed a four-and-a-half-year deal to join Southampton from Stade Rennais in a deal worth around 22 million Euros.

Sulemana reveals ambition at Southampton

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has targeted Premier League survival with Southampton after joining the English club in January.

The 20-year-old signed a four-and-a-half-year deal to join the Saints from French club Stade Rennais.

However, the St Mary's outfit are rooted bottom of the English Premier League halfway through the season.

The 20-year-old forward signed a four-and-a-half-year deal to join the Saints from French club, Stade Rennais on transfer deadline day.

Southampton announce the signing of the player on their official website after wrapping up the deal on January 31, 2023.
