Royal AM Superfan Mama Joy Booed by Orlando Pirates Supporters, Urges Buccaneers Fans to Show Her More Respect

Mama Joy Chauke may not hold any grudges against Orlando Pirates but the Buccaneers supporters certainly hold a grudge against her.

Pirates fans are still upset with the superfan and made their feelings known during their game against Chippa United.

Mama Joy attended the game at the Orlando Stadium, eager to soak up the atmosphere of a live game again but her presence there wasn’t welcome by all. When Pirates fans saw Mama Joy they started to boo her and sing songs about how she’s a liar, The Citizen reported.

Deeply upset by the incident, Mama Joy said that she doesn’t understand what she did to deserve the treatment and asked that Pirates fans show her more respect.

“I am still shocked and I don’t know what to say. But what they have done is not acceptable. They have to respect me,” Mama Joy said.

She went on to explain what happened at the stadium and why it upset her so much.

“I never thought going to Orlando Stadium would end up with me getting booed, but I just joined them when they sang Mama Joy o le menemene (Mama-Joy you’re a liar)."

Why do Orlando Pirates fans dislike Mama Joy?

Mama Joy was a diehard Orlando Pirates fan, supporting the team for 30 years. She was present at every game, showing her support for the Buccaneers.

In November last year she stunned the soccer community when she announced that she would now be supporting Royal AM, IOL reported.

Mama Joy explained that she was impressed by Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize and her passion for the game. That passion led Mama Joy to ditch the Buccaneers and become a Twihli Thwahla supporter.

Among her reasons to join the Durban-based DStv Premiership outfit, 'Mama Joy' mentioned that she wanted to support an ambitious woman in the form of Shauwn Mkhize. However, some football fans feel the woman is just there to earn a living and her departure from the Soweto giants is not based on footballing reasons.

The bubbly woman was a noticeable guest when Mkhize hosted an event at her home as she featured on the front page of True Love magazine. Chauke was also spotted on maMkhize’s Instagram page posing with the likes of Zulu Boy.
