Holding a trophy parade for nothing

At the end of last season's GladAfrica Championship, MaMkhize handed out a mock trophy as well as medals to Royal players under the belief that they'd won the division, gaining automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.

However, as reported by TimesLIVE, there had been a DC case underway which resulted in Sekhukhune United being declared champions and not Royal.

Court cases

MaMkhize refused to take this lying down. She went to court several times to overturn the decision, and though she won temporarily, the law eventually ruled that Royal AM would have to go through the play-offs in order to try gain promotion.

Not showing up for the play-offs

Royal AM had to take on Chippa United and Richards Bay. They seemingly did so in one of the matches against United, arriving in style, for good measure. With the match about to kick off, Royal staff and players then departed the venue without notice, forfeiting the match to the Chilli Boys, who won the mini-league.

Suddenly buying Bloemfontein Celtic

Dramatically, MaMkhize bought financially troubled top-flight side Bloemfontein Celtic days later. She had realised her dream of owning a Premier Soccer League team after all!

Celebrations after beating Kaizer Chiefs

MaMkhize, her son Andile Mpisane and Royal staff were seen celebrating exuberantly in the Soccer City stands after the team humiliated Kaizer Chiefs 4-1. They made their way on the field dancing, where one of their accompanying guards was seen holding a shotgun.

Handing out cash envelopes to players on the pitch

Arguably her most controversial antic, Mkhize handed out cash envelopes to players on the field after Royal had defeated Maritzburg United 2-1 in a KZN derby. This did not sit well with the PSL, which rightfully handed the club a hefty fine for bringing the league into disrepute
