Jose Mourinho got his AS Roma career to a flying start, albeit via a friendly as his team thrashed Serie D side Montecatini 10-0 in a preseason game.
This was Mourinho’s first match in charge of the Italian side since he was announced as the new manager in May.
The game was played in Trigoria and Roma were in rampant form right from the start as they bagged their opener after nine minutes.
Borja Mayoral scored a hat trick while the other goals came from Carles Perez, Gianluca Mancini, Riccardo Calafiori, Nicolo Zaniolo, Nicola Zalewski and Amadou Diawara as well as an own goal from Santi.
"We leave Rome and Trigoria at the end of a wonderful and unforgettable day for which we thank the AS Roma for the hospitality and hospitality," Montecatini said on their Facebook page despite the embarrassing scoreline.
It was an impressive performance from Jose Mourinho’s new side, which came only a week after he was officially unveiled as new boss of the Giallorossi.
In his first press conference, Mourinho, in typical Mourinho fashion, defended his track record where he memorably said his “disaster as a coach was considered an achievement for others”.
"At my last three clubs I won the Premier League with Chelsea, I won three cups with Manchester United, I made it into the League Cup final with Tottenham," he said at a press conference in the Italian capital,” Mourinho said.
"We finished 12th the year before and then we came sixth and qualified for the Europa League. What is considered a disaster for me is something that other coaches have never achieved in their lifetimes."

Roma will play a number of friendly in July and August before officially beginning their Serie A season with a cracker against Fiorentina.
Mourinho critical of senior England players
In the aftermath of the Euro 2020 final, Jose Mourinho expressed his discontent at the fact that senior England players did not take a penalty against Italy in the shootout.
"On the decisions of the penalty takers, I think it's hard to leave Saka as the last one.
"I think it's too much for a kid to have everything on his shoulders in this moment, but I don't know, I have to ask that question to Gareth because many times what happens is that players who should be there are not there, players who should be there, they run away from the responsibility."
