Karim Benzema will remain with Real Madrid for at least another season.
The French attacker was in the final few months of his contract with Los Blancos and free to negotiate with other clubs.
As reported by Madrid Universal, Madrid have agreed on a verbal agreement with Benzema over a contract renewal. He will remain with the club until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Despite winning the Ballon d'Or and having an impressive season for the Spanish side, there were doubts that he would remain at the club. Injuries have ruined Benzema's current season, leading him to miss out on many games for the side.

Who else wanted Benzema?
His age is also a factor. As noted by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United were also keen on signing the 35-year-old for next season.
Madrid, though, were keen to hang onto the player who has been a stalwart of the club. Benzema is the club's second-highest goal scorer in La Liga and the Spanish club's second-most successful player, behind Marcelo.

Once Benzema's contract is made official, Madrid will look to make decisions about the futures of other players. Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Marco Asensio and Dani Ceballos.
