  • The France international has already established himself as one of the best midfielders in world

Real Madrid players have come up with a new nickname for Eduardo Camavinga following his superlative performance against Atletico Madrid on Thursday.

The Frenchman featured as Los Blancos clawed from a goal down to secure the bragging rights in the Madrid derby and most importantly a spot in the semifinals of the Spanish Cup.

Against Diego Simeone's side in the Copa del Rey, Camavinga, playing as a make-shift left-back, won 12 of his 14 duels.

Carlo Ancelotti had to call on the 22-year-old to play left-back as his compatriot Ferland Mendy left the field injured.

What is Camavinga's new nickname

After their 3-1 victory over Atletico Madrid, Camavinga took to Twitter to hail the display of his teammates after they scored two crucial goals in extra time to oust their Madrid neighbours.

He wrote: "Hasta el final," which literally translates, "Until the end."

Real Madrid players, including Lucas Vasquez and Luka Modric, commented under Camavinga's post, calling him Bixente Lizarazu.

Eduardo Camavinga joined Los Blancos in 2021 from Ligue 1 side Rennes but has struggled for game time since making the £27.7million switch.

Who is Bixente Lizarazu?

Lizarazu is a former French left-back who played in the 1990s and early 2000s. He is regarded as one of the best full-backs of his generation.

He won the World Cup and European with France in 1998 and 2000 respectively. Lizarazu also won the UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2001.

Camavinga open to Arsenla move

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has given the biggest hint yet that he may be open to a potential loan move to Arsenal, Sports Brief had earlier reported.

The Frenchman joined Los Blancos in 2021 from Ligue 1 side Rennes but has struggled for game time since making the £27.7million switch.

He has since made 66 appearances for the La Liga champions and has often been substituted in the games he has started.

According to Standard.co.uk, Arsenal are open to signing Camavinga on loan to help bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.
