Lionel Messi is in line to hit an impressive milestone with Argentina as the 2022 World Cup tournament draws near.

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar has had a bright start to the new season and is currently in hot form for both club and country.

The four goals took Messi's tally for the national team to 90 goals since making his bow for Argentina in 2005.

And with La Albicelestes heading to the 2022 World Cup, the former Barcelona star has a chance of adding to his basket.

The Lionel Scaloni-tutored side will play eight matches during the tournament should they go all the way, presenting Messi with a golden opportunity to score even more goals.

According to the Mirror, should Messi score at least 10 goals at the World Cup, he will join an exclusive club of just two footballers who have scored 100 or more goals on the international stage.
