  • Former Manchester City and Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero has sent out a tough warning to Nicolas Otamendi not to injure Lionel Messi
  • Messi and Otamendi's teams were drawn in the same Champions League group alongside Angel Di Maria's Juventus
  • Messi is expected to lead his nation to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November, where they will face Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland in the Group stage

Sergio Aguero has hilariously warned Nicolas Otamendi not to injure Lionel Messi when the two meet in the Champions League group stages.

Messi's Paris Saint-Germain will be facing Otamendi's Benfica in the draw that was conducted on Thursday in Istanbul.

The two are Argentina international teammates and will be expected to line up together later this year in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup. Otamendi is known for his rush tackles and Aguero wants him to look out for Messi. Or else he will kill the Benfica defender.

Aguero was reacting to the Champions League draw where apart from Benfica, PSG was also drawn alongside Italian giants Juventus and Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.

The former Manchester City man was speaking on his Twitch channel as quoted by 442.

Otamendi, don't injure Leo because I'll kill you. The World Cup is coming.

Aguero also noted that Otamendi will also face another integral member of Argentina's side, Angel Di Maria, who now turns out for Juventus.

On paper, PSG and Juventus are poised to go through, but Benfica will pose some significant threat, having reached the quarterfinals last season.

Lionel Messi could pass Cristiano Ronaldo's record in the Champions League this season

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Lionel Messi will have a perfect opportunity to equal or pass Cristiano Ronaldo's impressive record in the Champions League this season.

The Paris Saint-Germain star has always been involved in a neck-to-neck battle with Ronaldo. Ronaldo has an edge in Europe's top club competition, but all that could change this season.

Ronaldo is facing the daunting prospect of failing to participate in the Champions League for the first time in over 15 years. Manchester United could only qualify for the Europa League and Ronaldo's attempts to leave the club or find another Champions League-playing club have so far been futile.
