Olympique Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara has snubbed Senegal for France after he was invited by Didier Deschamps ahead of the international break.

The midfielder has been named in Didier Deschamps squad for the Nations League games against Croatia and Austria.

In the squad released on Thursday, the midfielder born to Senegalese parents in France is likely to make his international debut in June.

African champions Senegal had held talks with the midfielder in a bid to convince play for the Ternaga Lions.

However, the French national team invite will be a huge blow for Senegal who were hoping to get him for the World Cup.

The Senegal national team will play Rwanda and Benin in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in June before engaging in two friendlies later that month.

Kamara has represented France at all youth levels.

Didier Deschamps reveals reason for dropping Ibrahima Konate

Earlier Sports Brief reported that France manager Didier Deschamps opted for William Saliba over Ibrahima Konate ahead of the Nations League games against Croatia and Austria.

Deschamps announced his squad for the games on Thursday leaving the red-hot Liverpool defender out of his team.

Explaining his team selection, Deschamps revealed Konate does not fit in his system and believes William Saliba will do a better in a three-back formation.
