  • The 23-year-old star has netted 30 times for Napoli in 68 appearances, since moving to Italy in 2020

It is amazing to discover that Napoli are Europe's entertainers this season, despite not having their talisman Victor Osimhen for more than a month. Napoli are top of Serie A and have dazzled in the Champions League.

The good news is that the Nigerian striker is close to a return to action, after training with the team on Monday.

Osimhen has been sidelined since the start of September with a thigh injury and is now champing at the bit to return to the pitch, according to Supersport.

The Partenopei welcome Ajax on Wednesday night, looking to repeat their performance in Amsterdam where they hammered the Dutch giants 6-1. A win will see them qualify for the last 16.

Napoli's update on Osimhen

According to Football Italia, Osimhen has resumed training.

“Victor Osimhen was in full training, while Amir Rrahmani underwent physio ahead of medical tests on Tuesday.”

Osimhen has played 5 Serie A matches this season and has scored two goals. When he returns, he should fit right in with the high-flying Napoli aside.

The Italian giants signed the Nigerian in 2020 from Lille for €70 million, a club record. So far, he's been worth every penny.

According to transfermarkt, he's scored 30 goals in 68 games for the Italian side and if Napoli's form is anything to go by, he will add many more to his tally.

Napoli extend winning run

Sports Brief earlier reported on Napoli beating Cremonsese to return to the top of Serie A, after AC Milan occupied the spot following a huge win over Juventus.

Luciano Spalletti's side scored three goals in the last 14 minutes of the match to secure the win.

Diego Maradona's former side have now won 11 of their last 13 league games, stretching back to last season.
