  • AC Milan are the defending champions of the Serie A after winning it last season for the first time since 2011
  • Transfer speculations continue to surround players like Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer
  • Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali has now advised the club to keep all their players so as to retain their title

AC Milan returned to the summit of Italian football last season, for the first time in 11 years. Stefano Pioli had a mix of young talent and experience to beat off rivals Inter Milan.

As with every club, especially ones who don't have the appeal to hold players for long, other European clubs will come for the players who excelled and can propel the team.

Milan already have two of their most important players facing uncertain futures due to interest from other clubs which is helped by contract renewal issues at the Italian giants.

Tonali: Milan can catch Napoli

Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali who formed a core of the Serie A winning team has advised the club to keep hold of their stars to retain the title. He told Gazzetta dello Sport, quoted by Rossoneri Blog.

Milan currently sits eight points behind Napoli on the table before the World Cup and Tonali believes it's possible to catch them

“Do we believe in it? If anything, I wonder the opposite – why shouldn’t we believe in it? We are confident for two reasons. First, because more than half of the matches have not been played yet – there are plenty of points available. And second, because this Milan is really strong.” he said.

Tonali advises Milan to keep players

The 22-year-old, while not directly commenting on speculation around his teammates, advised the club to keep them as they are important.

“Ismaël is fundamental for us, I have no other adjectives. You find him everywhere; he runs for everyone, and he raises the level of play in terms of quality. He knows the path that has been made and what we could still do in the future, together.” he added.

“Leao has different characteristics and a different role, but he is certainly a phenomenon… I don’t direct his choices: he knows what the best thing to do is. He’ll make the best decision for himself before for us.” he further expressed.

Ibrahimovic advises Leao to move

Sports Brief earlier reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic advised Leao to move if he realizes how talented he is and needs a next step in his career.

Rafael Leao has been a subject of transfer speculation linking him to Chelsea and other top European clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Tonali however has a different idea to the veteran and has advised his mate to stay at San Siro so they can push Milan to more glory.
