- Memphis Depay dropped a subtle hint that he could leave Barcelona in January
- Manchester United is among the possible destinations for the talented Dutch winger
- Depay has experience at Old Trafford having had an underwhelming first spell before his exit in 2017
Manchester United could attempt to re-sign their former winger Memphis Depay in January as the Dutchman continues to face an uncertain future at Barcelona.
The Red Devils are still assessing their options as they continue their search for Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement after the 37-year-old had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
Depay is no stranger to United fans as he had an initial first spell at Old Trafford after signing from PSV Eindhoven as a young prospect back in 2015.
But under Louis Van Gaal, the Dutchman failed to thrive and was eventually shipped off to the French Ligue 1 in 2017.

At Barcelona, Depay is contracted until 2023, but the Catalan giants have found some stability under Xavi without necessarily needing the winger’s services.
This could signal an early exit for Depay, as reported on Sport.
United boss Erik Ten Hag is also said to be a huge fan of Depay, who has matured tremendously since his first Manchester United spell.
Depay’s take on his future
At the moment, Depay is currently on international duty with the Netherlands at the World Cup, where they already claimed a first win at the expense of African Champions Senegal.
The winger recently spoke to reporters where he admitted he had no idea what the future held as far as his club career was concerned and was focused on the World Cup.
"We have a good team that can prove things. I don't want to think about the past, I'm focused on the World Cup. I also don't want to think beyond this competition. I don't know what will happen after the World Cup," he said as quoted on Sports Mole.
Beckham ready to buy Manchester United
Sports Brief also reported on David Beckham’s willingness to buy Manchester United after the Glazers put the club up for sale.
Current owners, The Glazers, who bought the Premier League giants for £790million back in 2005, are understood to have put the club on the market on Tuesday, November 23.
Given the massive amount The Glazers are demanding to sell Man United, Beckham is thought to be looking to form part of an investment consortium as prospective buyers.
