  • Graeme Souness has once again hit back at Jack Grealish in what is now becoming a nasty war of words between the pair
  • Initially, Souness called out Grealish, saying he was “good, but not a great player”
  • Grealish hit back saying he did not understand why Souness always talked about him

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has brutally told Jack Grealish to “stop being so precious” in the wake of the 27-year-old’s response to his initial criticism.

It all started when Souness initially gave a scathing analysis of Grealish’s overall game, claiming the Man City star was a good player, but he was not necessarily great.

The 69-year-old went on to accuse Grealish of having the tendency to hold on to the ball for too long and despite the mega-money move from Aston Villa to Manchester City, he “hasn’t improved much”.

Grealish, in a rejoinder, simply stated he did not understand where Souness’ criticism came from.

"It is difficult [to ignore] when he’s on Sky Sports and it’s everywhere around the training ground. He was a great player and won a lot but I don’t know what problem he’s got."
"I know he’s said a lot of stuff about me not moving the ball quicker but when I’m playing for a manager like Pep Guardiola and he’s telling me to keep the ball as much as I can and have balls to take it everywhere, that’s what I’ll try to do."

Souness’ response

By now, many fans know Souness is not one to back down from a war of words as he has a history of providing harsh analyses to players, especially those who were bought for large sums of money.

After Grealish’s statement, the former Liverpool man hit back once again, this time asking Grealish to basically take criticism as it comes.

In his response, Souness reiterated he had no problem with the winger, adding that he was entitled to an opinion.

“I think I’m entitled to an opinion... don’t be so precious!” he said as quoted on SportBible. "I was the first to call Pogba out as average and was proved right!"

Grealish is currently on international duty with the England national team as they prepare to take on Italy later in the week.
