Liverpool Defeat Wolves, but Manchester City Win Premier League Title After Victory Over Aston Villa

Liverpool got their job done on the final day coming from behind to defeat Wolves 3-1 but it was not enough as Manchester City made a late comeback to defeat Aston Villa 3-2 to win the title.

It was a fight to finish at Anfield as the hosts were stunned as early as the 3rd minute when Pedro Neto found the back of the net in a spectacular fashion.

The goal left Liverpool with no choice but to go all out as they must win and hope Aston Villa get result against Manchester City in the other title game.

And it was Senegalese international Sadio Mane that drew the Reds level in the 24th minute as the entire stadium heaved a sigh of relief.

Desperate for the winner as City were losing at halftime in the other game, Liverpool threw everything upfront searching for the winning goal.

Wolves were resolute as they proved stubborn preventing the Reds from the sight of goal, but it was Mohamed Salah who got the much-sought lead in the 84th minute to make it 2-1.

The visitors dropped off massively since Salah made it 2-1 and then Robertson played a one-two with Firmino who cut back for the Scot to score as it ended Liverpool 3-1 Wolves.

Liverpool did their bit and they break the 90-point barrier once more under Jurgen Klopp to put the gloss on a sensational season, but it' was not enough to win the title after Man City beat Aston Villa 3-2.

Guardiola asks Man United fans to celebrate with them

Sports Brief earlier reported that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has jokingly asked United fans to join them in celebration if his side win the Premier League title.

The Citizens are topping the standings with 90 points, with Liverpool, who are their closest challengers trailing them by a point.

Guardiola extended the invitation to United supporters after he found out that a huge number of the Red Devils faithful is rooting for City to win the league ahead of Liverpool.
