Mohammed Salah has won the Football Writer’s Association Award after his remarkable performances for Liverpool this season.

Salah garnered 48 percent of the votes cast, finishing ahead of Kevin De Bruyne and Declan Rice, who came in second and third, respectively.

According to a report via Football Writers, it is the second time the Liverpool forward has been recognized, having won the award in 2018.

The Egyptian forward has netted a total of 30 goals in all competitions this season for the Reds as they continue their chase for a historic quadruple this season.

The Football Writers Award has been presented since 1948 and is awarded to the best football player in England for a football season.

Liverpool and Man City players dominate FWA votes

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Manchester City players dominated the votes for the Football Writers Association award for 2022.

According to the Daily Mail, nine of Klopp's squad received individual nominations, and a total of six Man City players were recognized.

Liverpool and Manchester City have been in a two-horse race for the Premier League title as the Reds are just one point behind City with just 4 matches to the end of the season.

Salah scores twice as Liverpool thumps desperate Man United

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Liverpool stormed to the top of the Premier League thanks to a comprehensive performance against a desperate Manchester United on Tuesday, April 19.

Mohammed Salah scored twice as the Reds thrashed their opponents 4-0 at Anfield in a game where United was lucky not to have conceded any more.

Despite the derby nature of the fixture, there was an embarrassing gulf in quality between the two teams as Liverpool showed their title credentials from early on.
