  • Klopp candidly spoke about his future at Liverpool, where he expressed his intentions to walk away once his contract ran out
  • The German renewed his deal in 2019 and it is set to run until the summer of 2024
  • Liverpool have grown to be powerhouses in world football under Klopp, who ended the Reds’ 30-year wait for a Premier League title

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said he is almost certain to leave the club in 2024 when his current contract runs out.

In his six and a half years at the Merseyside club, Klopp has transformed football there, with Liverpool reclaiming their spot as one of the big guns in world football.

His latest trophy triumph was in the Carabao Cup, where his side managed to beat Chelsea via a penalty shootout, and Klopp sensationally likened the trophy to the Champions League.

At the moment, the German is enjoying a purple patch in his Liverpool career after an initial slow start when he took over in 2015, having won the Premier League and Champions League in the last two years.

In his latest press conference on Friday, March 4, Klopp opened up on his future as he admitted his current thoughts were on walking away from the hot seat when his deal expires in 2024.

His new deal, which runs out in two years, was signed in 2019 and at the moment, Klopp has no intentions of renewing it.

“If I have the energy levels for it is important,’ said Klopp as quoted by Daily Mail.
“I love what I do but there must be something else out there in the world apart form always thinking about very well-skilled, good looking, fantastically nice players! But I really don’t think about it.”

‘I’m full of energy but I have to make sure that is the case (in the future). I don’t want to sit around and be more tired and think, “Wow! Why is everyone bothered about the things out there because I couldn’t care less?” ’

His latest remarks will likely have Liverpool fans very interested, as it is the first time he has candidly spoken about his future at the club.

“I don’t have a plan”

The biggest encouragement for fans as far as Klopp is concerned is the fact that he made it clear that he would leave the club with a strong foundation for his successor.

‘When I talk about a plan, I mean for the future of the club,’ said Klopp. ‘My future will be OK. I don’t have to plan. I could book last minute — let’s put it like this. It is not a problem.

Liverpool team news ve West Ham

Klopp’s current priority is cutting the gap on Manchester City as his side prepares to take on West Ham on Saturday, January 5.

The Reds will be without Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara for the game, but Curtis Jones and Naby Keita are back in contention to feature.

West Ham managed a sensational 3-2 win over the Reds the last time the two sides met.
