TS Galaxy, who have enjoyed great results against the Amakhosi, also couldn’t score. Keagan Dolly was undoubtedly Kaizer Chiefs’ most dangerous player while Augustine Kwem looked most likely to score for TS Galaxy. Both players attempted shots on target but failed to trouble either keeper.

Kaizer Chiefs’ first decent chance came in the second half as Siyabonga Ngazane headed over the crossbar from a corner. The second half was as largely uneventful as the first half with neither side showing real attacking promise.

With time running down, both sides almost stole the win in extra time. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo beat Melusi Buthelezi in the TS Galaxy goal, but his long-range shot rattled away off the woodwork. TS Galaxy then almost stole the points with ten seconds to go but poor finishing cost them.

The draw saw TS Galaxy climb out of the relegation zone, leapfrogging Swallows. Swallows have two games in hand though and are only a point behind The Rockets.

The point also saw Kaizer Chiefs close the gap to Royal AM in the battle for second place. Royal AM are now just a point above the Amakhosi but have a game in hand.

Stuart Baxter was critical of his side, saying that they didn’t dominate the game. He highlighted that many of his players were too anxious and that playing for Chiefs weighed heavy on them.

DStv Premiership: Kaizer Chiefs are out for some payback, take on a TS Galaxy side in the relegation zone

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Chiefs have one thing on their mind when they take on TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership; revenge. Despite TS Galaxy being outclassed by the Amakhosi on paper, the Mpumalanga based side have been a jinx team for Chiefs of late.

TS Galaxy famously beat the Amakhosi in the 2019 final of the Nedbank Cup, before following that up by eliminating them from this year’s Nedbank Cup tournament. The previous match between the two sides in the DStv Premiership ended in a goalless draw.

Despite being one of the new sides in the League, TS Galaxy doesn’t lack any confidence. As reported by IOL, TS Galaxy owner, Tim Sukazi, said that his team’s rivalry with Chiefs was one of the biggest in the country.
