Sports Brief looks at five big names he has surpassed:

Premier League greats Haaland surpassed

1. Didier Drogba

The Chelsea legend scored over 100 league goals in English football and won two Golden Boots. He scored three goals or more thrice throughout his eight years in the league, and the Norwegian surpassed this in his first few months.

2. Raheem Sterling

The former City star will retire as a Premier League legend. He has scored over 100 goals, including a treble on five occasions. However, his body movement on the ball robs him of the respect he deserves from fans.

3. Ruud van Nistelrooy

Manchester United legend van Nistelrooy scored 95 English top-flight goals in five seasons for the Red Devils. He scored five trebles, a tally Haaland has surpassed in just his second season. The Dutch also has one Golden Boot, which the 23-year-old could surpass this season with his second.

4. Robin van Persie

The lethal Dutch forward netted 144 league goals between Arsenal and Manchester United, including five hat tricks. Van Persie also won two Golden Boots. Both his treble tally and best goalscorer award will be surpassed by Haaland this season.

5. Dimitar Berbatov

The Bulgarian forward scored 94 Premier League goals between Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham. He scored five hat tricks and was the league's top scorer in 2011.

6. Andy Cole

The English forward is reputable for scoring 187 Premier League goals with zero penalties. He also scored five trebles and was the Golden Boot winner in the 1993/94 season.

7. Mohamed Salah

Liverpool forward Salah is one of the best-scoring wingers in football and has over 150 league goals. He has four hattricks and three Golden Boots. He could leave Anfield this season amidst interest from Saudi Arabia.
