Ghana captain Andre Ayew will miss the Black Stars' crucial World Cup play-off against Nigeria due to suspension after picking a red card against Comoros Island at the Africa Cup of Nation.

Teammate Mubarak Wakaso failed to make the 27-man squad for the games despite being part of the team at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he was unused due to injury.

Despite their absence from the Black Stars, the pair were spotted together with the legendary Abedi Pele as they trained to keep fit.

Andre Ayew just returned to Ghana after a successful spell with Qatari side Al Sadd, where he won the league and the Emir Cup. He was also Al Sadd's top scorer in the Qatari Stars League.

Meanwhile, Wakaso has been inactive for sometime now after returning home from the Chinese Super League side Shenzen FC.

The Black Stars will face Nigeria on Friday in the first leg of the blockbuster encounter before travelling to Abuja four days later for the second leg.

Black Stars arrive in Kumasi ahead of World Cup play-off

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that players of the senior national team, the Black Stars, have landed in Kumasi ahead of the World Cup play-off against Nigeria.

The team led by coach Otto Addo will move to their base before training later on Tuesday night as preparations continue for the big game.

In photos posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, the team looks set with the players eager for the game on Friday.

Edmund Addo set to miss Ghana's game against Nigeria

Ghana international Edmund Addo is set to miss the crucial World Cup play-off against Nigeria later this week.

The Black Stars will face the Super Eagles in a gigantic encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday with the second leg of the play-offs set to be played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on March 29th.

Ahead of the game, football ghana has reported that FC Sheriff Tiraspol's midfielder, Addo, has been ruled out of the gigantic clash after he sustained an injury during his side's league game against Sfintul Gheorghe in Moldova's top-tier league on Sunday.
