Ghana Name New Coach Ahead of Nigeria Clash, Ex-Brighton Manager Made Technical Advisor

The Ghana Football Association has finally settled on Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars with Chris Highton acting as the technical advisor.

The German-trained coach will be assisted by George Boateng and Mas Ud Didi Dramani as Ghana prepares for the World Cup play-offs against Nigeria.

After days of back and forth between the FA and the Sports Ministry, the federation finally announced the new technical team on their official website.

A statement read:

"Former Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has been appointed as Technical Advisor to the newly constituted Black Stars Technical team led by Otto Addo.
Other members of the new Technical team include George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani. The 63- year old will provide Technical advice to the three man team for next month’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off match against Nigeria.
"The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association took the decision at a meeting held in Accra on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Otto Addo, a former Ghana player is currently the Assistant Coach of German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund."

Otto Addo's will immediately start preparation for the crucial World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, with the imminent announcement of his team expected in the coming days.

The GFA sacked Milovan Rajevac following a disastrous Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Ghana sack coach Milovan Rajevac

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the Ghana Football Association has sacked Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac following the country's poor 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Serbian trainer leaves four months after replacing C.K Akonnor as head coach of the national team.

According to reports, the FA will be releasing an official statement to confirm the departure of the coach on Saturday, January 22, 2021.
