Mamelodi Sundowns manager, Rulani Mokwena, has dedicated the club's seventh consecutive DStv Premiership title to CAF president Patrice Motsepe's son.

The Brazilians clinched the league title with six games to spare after thrashing Kaizer Chiefs 5-1 at the FNB Stadium on Thursday, May 2.

Tashreeq Matthews' brace and lone strikes from Matias Esquivel, Lucas Ribeiro, and Thembinkosi Lorch gave Masandawana the deserved win over Amakhosi.

In an interview with SuperSport after the match, as per iDiskiTimes, Mokwena disclosed why he is dedicating the team's victory to the club's chairman, Thlopie Motsepe.

"I want to dedicate this victory, maybe even the victory is not enough, maybe the entire season to the chairman of this football club, Thlopie Motsepe," he said.
"I run out of words, I get emotional. In the good moments, he's there; in the bad moments, he's there. For the last three weeks, I've felt very, very low. He's been texting me every single day. And I just want to dedicate this league title, dedicate this big victory against a big rival to our Chairman Thlopie Motsepe because he is [an] unbelievable human being.
"I wish I could be half the man that he is. He's an incredible leader. He's been so supportive, and yeah, so I hope he is watching. This is for you."

Lorch explains why Mokwena was hard on him

Sports Brief also reported that Lorch expressed gratitude for Mokwena's guidance and patience in helping him improve his scoring record.

He has been a regular starter from on the bench for the Brazilians, a strategy the manager was quick to explain once questioned by the media.

Mokwena said that the approach was part of assimilating new signings into the squad, including Lorch, Zuko Mdunyelwa, and Tashreeq Matthews.
