Graham Potter saved his job after guiding Chelsea to a 1-0 win over Leeds United in a hard-fought match at Stamford Bridge, thanks to a Wesley Fofana header in the 52nd minute.

The Chelsea boss was reportedly given two games ultimatum to turn around the result or face the sack. It was not the best game for the Blues, but the result was all that mattered.

£70m summer signing from Leicester City, Fofana headed home Ben Chilwell's corner and also produced a masterful performance in defence to help the Blues secure the win.

Potter heaps praise on Chilwell

As noted by Football London, the win was Chelsea's first in seven games, and the goal was the first since João Felix scored in the 1-1 draw against West Ham.

It eased pressure on Potter, who applauded his players' performance but called for a room for improvement. He singled out several players for praise, especially English left-back Chilwell, who assisted the goal.

“Ben Chilwell has been working really hard and contributed in a good way in the first half in how he attacked,'' Potter told BBC Sport.

Fofana reveals Chelsea worked on set-pieces

Goalscorer Wesley Fofana returned to action last week in the 1-0 loss to Southampton after four months out injured. He told BBC Sports he feels good and revealed the team worked on set pieces in training yesterday.

''I feel good. I scored today, the team won, and a clean sheet—a very good day. Yesterday in training we worked on set-pieces, and today I scored one. It's a good feeling. The timing of the run was good. I worked on that,'' he said.

Kalidou Koulibaly praises Potter

Sports Brief earlier reported that Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly revealed why Potter is a great manager, highlighting the former Brighton manager's communication skills as what stands him out.

The Senegalese defender was signed under former boss Thomas Tuchel and has struggled to adapt in the Premier but gave a performance of a leader in the win over Leeds United.
