Orlando Pirates defender, Olisa Ndah, has seen his dreams of a move to Serie A dashed by persistent injuries.

His agent, Mike Makaab, explained that the 26-year-old has attracted strong interest from clubs in Italy, the MLS, and Belgium, but niggling injuries have prevented him from securing a transfer.

Ndah has been a consistent performer for the Sea Robbers since joining the club in 2021, helping them achieve a third-place finish in the South African top flight.

According to Complete Sports, injuries have hampered his progress, disrupting his rhythm and preventing him from showcasing his full potential.

His journey from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to stints in Malta before returning to shine domestically with Remo Stars and Akwa United showcases his resilience and talent.

Makaab, the man behind ProSport International, representing Ndah, explained the unfortunate events that prevented the defender from leaping Serie A, Major League Soccer (MLS), or Belgium.

“Every time Olisa seems to find his best footing, he ends up with these niggling injuries. This is not just talk. There was interest from the Italian Serie A. There was interest from the MLS. There was interest from Belgium. So, there's been real interest in him. Sadly, he had not had this consistent run of games where he has been able to show what he did when he first came here to South Africa," he said, as quoted by Afrik Foot.

While Ndah's club career flourishes, his international journey has yet to soar. Despite sporadic appearances for the Super Eagles, his hopes of solidifying his place in the national team remain unfulfilled.

However, with Nigeria facing defensive challenges ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to injuries to key players like William Troost-Ekong and Zaidu Sanusi, Ndah's prospects for a national team recall seem brighter.

Fans believe Ndah is the key to clean sheets

Sports Brief reported that some Pirates fans believed Ndah was the key to keeping clean sheets.

Since joining on a free transfer, he has had a standout season for the club.

However, a mixture of injuries and rumoured issues with management have kept him out of the team.
