- Gordon headed over to the stands, where it is assumed he gave the fan his jersey after their draw against Leeds United
- But the fan appeared to let the child go in readiness to get a hug from clearly one of his idols
Unverified footage from Everton's game against Leeds United has left some fans in shock after a man appeared to drop his child just to embrace Anthony Gordon.
Gordon was in action for Everton at the Elland Road, where he put the Toffees ahead in the 17th minute. He received a defence-splitting pass from Alex Iwobi before nutmegging goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

Kevin De Bruyne: Man City star aims subtle dig at magazine that branded him 'Chelsea reject' 7 years ago
It was his second goal of the season in back-to-back games. However, Frank Lampard's charges were denied their first win of the season after Luis Sinisterra scored his first Premier League goal for Leeds United 10 minutes after the break.
But the incident after the game formed the basis of widespread reactions on social media. In the video spotted by Sports Brief, Gordon is seen approaching a fan who is clearly elated to see him.
The man is holding a child donned in a blue hoodie. Gordon talks his way past the steward and as he approaches the man, he appears to let go of the child who falls down. Rather surprisingly, the man doesn't immediately follow up to see if the child is okay.
A shirtless Gordon then bends down to check on the child before helping him back to the stands. The man is seen holding a pink jersey, Everton's away kit this season.. Sports Brief cannot confirm if it was Gordon's jersey, nor can we confirm if the child in the video was the father or related in any way to the man.
A fan on Twitter was shocked to see Gordon receive such reactions, given that he has barely established himself in professional football.
