  • Timo Werner has said that he could be happy everywhere in what will be read as a hint on his long-term future at Chelsea
  • Werner has struggled since making the switch from RB Leipzig, having scored just 10 goals in the Premier League
  • He will need to work hard to convince head coach Thomas Tuchel to accord him more chances, especially with the arrival of Raheem Sterling

Chelsea striker Timo Werner has appeared to insinuate that there will come a time when he will reconsider his future away from the club.

Werner is yet to replicate his top form at RB Leipzig, which saw Chelsea splash a huge amount of money to bring him to England. He has only shown glimpses of his talent and has often been criticised for missing open chances.

He recently scored Chelsea's first preseason goal to help his side to win a 2-1 victory over Club America. Speaking after that match that was held at the Allegiant stadium in Las Vegas, the German quipped that he could be happy elsewhere, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

It is hard to say.
First of all, the most important thing is that I am happy. I am happy when I play and score goals. That's the fact. That's what I should take care of and the other things will come. I can be happy everywhere.

Chelsea had wanted to use Timo Werner to sign Matthijs de Ligt

Reports had been rife that Chelsea were ready to use Werner as an incentive for Juventus to part with Matthijs de Ligt. The Blues were extremely light on defenders and were willing to offload one of the attackers.

De Ligt is, however, on the brink of joining Bayern Munich, while Chelsea has since bought Kalidou Koulibaly.

Competition for places in Thomas Tuchel's attack line next season is set to be even stiffer with the addition of Raheem Sterling and the return to full fitness of Callum Hudson-Odoi. Werner will be hoping to improve on his 10-goal tally in the Premier League in two seasons.

Chelsea reignite their interest in Jules Kounde

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Premier League giants Chelsea had reactivated their interest in securing the services of France international Jules Kounde.

The French defender has been a top summer target for FC Barcelona, with the La Liga giants keen on augmenting their defence with a couple of new faces.

The Blues have stepped up their transfer dealings in a couple of weeks - acquiring the football services of English forward Raheem Sterling and 2021 AFCON-winning captain Kalidou Koulibaly.
