Chelsea are on the verge of missing out on Matthijs de Ligt after the Dutch defender agreed a deal in principle to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old defender has been on the radar of the Blues all summer as Thomas Tuchel has identified the former Ajax defender as the perfect replacement for Antonio Rudiger.

According to a report via The Sun, Bayern Munich is not willing to pay the asking price of €70m set by Juventus for the defender which still gives Chelsea a slim hope of scuppering the deal.
