Baroka FC Coach Punished While Seeking His CAF Coaching License

Baroka FC coach Vincent Kobola has found himself on ice.

The Limpopo-based club has placed him on suspension after he attended a CAF C License course in Johannesburg without permission by the club.

According to the Sunday World, he did not notify the club of his intention, thus leading to him being deemed AWOL. His temporary replacement is Bushy Moloi, who will try to guide the team out of the Motsepe Foundation Championship in his absence.

Kobola said to the publication:

“I cannot comment because there is an internal case against me on Monday. I will only be able to talk about the matter once I get my verdict after the case.”

Acting CEO Richard Mashabane was quoted as saying:

“As a club we cannot comment about the verdict. It is beyond my control and the chairman of the hearing will announce his verdict. The charges were poor work performance and insubordination. We want to make it clear that we did not fire the coach. He is suspended until the verdict is made. Coach Bushy Moloi is there on an interim basis until the matter is resolved.”

Maritzburg United's new coach John Maduka has gone on the offensive to ensure that his name remains unsullied.

This then led to whispers that the Malawian left because he was not a CAF-accredited coach, which is compulsory to coach in CAF-sanctioned matches.
