Laporta backs Xavi for success

Meanwhile, Juan Laporta has backed Xavi to turn his fortunes around as Barcelona manager following a rough few weeks in charge of the Catalan giants.

Laporta insists Xavi is the right man for the job and believes the former Blaugrana midfielder will bring success back to Camp Nou in his time in charge of Barcelona, Marca reports.

Laporta set to repair relationship with Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Barcelona president Joan Laporta has vowed to do all he can to re-sign Lionel Messi next summer when the PSG star's contract expires.

Messi joined Barcelona's La Masia as a 13-year-old kid after his family agreed to let him sign for the Camp Nou club.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner left the Catalan giants for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer last year, calling an emotional end to his 21-year Barcelona career.
