2022 Carling Black Label Cup: Bafana Bafana Hugo Broos Coach Criticises 'Inconvenient' Beer Cup

Not only does Hugo Broos have a bee in his bonnet, but it is now an entire hive that inhabits it.

The Bafana Bafana coach has criticised the timing of the 2022 Carlin Black Label Cup, which will take place on Saturday at Soccer City. This is five days before South Africa takes on Mozambique on 17 November, and Angola on the 20th.

According to the Daily Sun, the Belgian said:

"No, I don't see the sense of it. It's money, but I would have been happy if that tournament was played just before the league started again. When I heard that people can choose the team. I understand its publicity, but why do it now?

"They are happy because there is money to win, but I don't think players are happy to play such tournaments."

He was speaking at the announcement of the 23-man squad to play in those fixtures, as per Goal. The likes of Monnapule Saleng, Miguel Timm and Kgaugelo Sekgota have forced themselves into the squad after recent excellent performances for their clubs.

The matches will both take place at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, with much better crowds expected than the empty stands which greeted Bafana at Soccer City recently.

2022 Carling Black Label Cup: Final starting line-ups for Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu announced

The final lineups for the teams that will be participating in the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday have been revealed.

As reported on Sports Brief, the announcement was made on SuperSport's Extra Time programme. MTN8 champions Orlando Pirates will take on defending champions Kaizer Chiefs, while Mamelodi Sundowns will try to get past AmaZulu for a place in the final.

The voters at home selected highly exciting outfits for the first four-team event in this particular tournament's history.
