According to the Daily Sun, Mokoena said:

"I'm just talking about it now. I am being appointed to be an assistant coach for our national team Under-17. And I am also soon going to be appointed as a head of development of SAFA.

In January 2021, Mokoena joined Cape Town City FC as an assistant coach under Jan Olde Riekerink, before departing the club unexpectedly toward the end of the same year.

Bafana coach Hugo Broos says that they are playing 'weaker' opponents Botswana and Sierre Leone for confidence

Bafana Bafana will take on Sierre Leone this afternoon and Botswana on Tuesday evening.

Coach Hugo Broos said that the 'weakness' of these two opponents was by design in terms of chosen teams, considering the poor 2022 the national team has had. South Africa has won one match all year.

According to the Daily Sun, the Belgian said:

"We were looking this time for opponents that were a little bit less than the opponents before, like Ghana, France and Morocco to gain a little confidence for ourselves.
"It is three defeats [this year]. It is a moment now to try to have a victory. That does not mean the game on Saturday will be easy."
