Caleb Amankwah's late header earned Hearts of Oak a point against fierce rivals Asante Kotoko in the first installment of the Ghanaian Super Clash.

The defender netted with three minutes remaining to cancel a second half strike by Kotoko's Yussif Mubarik.

After a goalless first half, Asante Kotoko broke the deadlock following a well-worked freekick which deflected Hearts defender Kanadu Yiadom, finding its way to Mubarik, who smashed it home in the 55th minute.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko felt unlucky after Dennis Korsah shoved off Augustine Agyapong early in the game.

As Kotoko kept action questions, they were stunned after Amankwah rose high to head home the equalizer.

The Phobians are yet to win a game in three matches, while Asante Kotoko just played their first match of the season in the Ghana Premier League.

Hearts fans taunt Kotoko with Kadiogo chants ahead of Super Clash

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Accra Hearts of Oak supporters reminded fans of Asante Kotoko of their recent defeat after chanting Kadiogo moments before the Super Clash at the Baba Yara stadium.

The two Ghanaian football powerhouse lock horns on matchday three of the domestic topflight league in Kumasi.

In a video posted on social media, fans of Hearts of Oak loudly taunted Asante Kotoko with Kadiogo chants.

Asante Kotoko eliminated from CAF Champions League

Asante Kotoko have been booted out of the CAF Champions League after a penalty shootout defeat to Burkinabe side RC Kadiogo.

The Ghanaian champions were stunned at home after Kadiogo scored early through a brilliant freekick from Bassika Syla.

Kotoko huffed and puffed as they chase an equalizer, but the visitors defended resolutely to keep the Reds at bay.
