Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been presented with the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title in their final home game of the season.

The Porcupine Warriors wrapped up the title last week after a 1-1 draw against Ashantigold but had to be crowned champions in front of their fans in the game against Elmina Sharks.

In photos posted on Twitter, the players were seen receiving their medals as captain Abdul Ganiyu lifted the trophy.

The record Ghana Premier League champions will represent the country in the CAF Champions League next season.

In the penultimate game of the season, the Reds thrashed relegated Elmina Sharks to give their fans the needed boost as they celebrated at the final whistle.

Defender Ibrahim Imoro broke the deadlock with a swinging freekick before Cameroonian winger Georges Mfegue added a second half double to complete the mauling.

Asante Kotoko win Ghana Premier League after Ashantigold draw

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Asante Kotoko annexed the Ghana Premier League title despite sharing the spoils with regional rivals Ashantigold on Thursday afternoon at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.

A Maxwell Agyemang header cancelled Yaw Annor's first-half strike as the Porcupine Warriors clinched the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League crown.

With three games to spare in the Ghanaian top-flight, Kotoko went into the game needing only a point to secure a record-extending 25th league crown at the expense of regional rivals, Ashgold.

Asante beat WAFA in Sogakope

Runaway Ghana Premier League leaders Asante Kotoko recorded a historic victory at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena when the Porcupine Warriors pipped West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) on Saturday afternoon.

Cameroon import Franck Mbella Etouga scored the solitary goal to hand the Porcupine Warriors all-three points in a keenly contested affair.

The Kumasi-based giants went into the matchday 27 league clash against the relegation-threatened WAFA on the back of two successive defeats. Read more:
