Fabio Vieira showed hints that Arsenal are still in top gear as the Premier League nears a return, after he scored a screamer during a friendly against Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday.

Ahead of club football’s return, the English side are participating in the Dubai Cup, which also features the likes of Liverpool and AC Milan.

The Gunners came up against Ligue 1 giants Lyon at the Al-Maktoum Stadium, and proved to be too strong for the French side by cruising to a routine 3-0 win.

As reported by Daily Star, centre-back Gabriel opened the scoring with a header before forward Eddie Nketiah doubled the lead in a goal that was assisted by Vieira.

The best goal was surely saved for last, as Vieira found a third by finishing off a lovely passing move that left Arsenal fans on social media excited.

Fans react to Vieira efforts

“We need to study this man’s leg. How he generates such power with such a short build up,” one fan said.
“Portugal taking a massive L against Morocco without him," another added.
“This is a play style. Everyone does their part. This isn’t like with auba where we need his goals. Everyone scores for this team now,” observed one commenter.

All three goals were scored in the first half, and Arteta could afford to make wholesome changes at the break to give other players a chance to test their fitness levels.

Interestingly, there was a penalty shootout after the game, despite Arsenal having comprehensively won 3-0.

In that shootout, the Gunners also emerged on top as seven collective spot kicks were missed.

Supercomputer predicts Arsenal winning EPL

Sports Brief also reported on a supercomputer predicting Arsenal would win the Premier League this season.

The Gunners have not tasted the league in nearly 18 years, with their last triumph in the English top-flight coming during the 2003/04 season under former boss Arsene Wenger.

While the north Londoners have previously shown signs of challenging for the prestigious crown, they have often fallen short of strength.
