  • Arsenal have been among the busiest clubs in this summer’s transfer window
  • Mikel Arteta is not done with transfers and the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City is imminent
  • Following Zinchenko’s transfer, Arteta now has a very capable squad to compete for trophies in the upcoming season

Arsenal is set to become a highly competitive side next season if a look at the club’s current squad is anything to go by.

The Gunners have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window this season, having secured the likes of Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and more recently, Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

Despite the huge summer spending spree, Mikel Arteta is not done yet as reports have it that he is ready to go shopping in his former club Manchester City once again.

As per BBC, Arsenal are on the verge of signing Ukranian Oleksandr Zinchenko, who would become the fifth summer signing for the club.

Close analysis will reveal that Arsenal’s signings all have the potential to compete for places in the first team.

Regardless, the North London side still enjoyed quite a healthy squad prior to the transfers. In fact, they were on the verge of competing in the Champions League but suffered a late-season collapse.

Sports Brief takes a look at Arsenal’s squad, and the fact that Mikel Arteta is slowly building a formidable squad that has back up in almost every position.

Starting XI: Ramsdale; Tierney, White, Gabriel; Tomiyasu; Partey, Vieira, Odegaard; Pepe, Saka, Jesus.

The above squad is the hypothetical starting XI, but in the unlikely event all these players are unavailable, Arteta could go for the following lineup:

Backup XI: Leno; Tavares, Saliba, Holding, Bellerin; Xhaka, Elneny, Zinchenko; Smith Rowe, Martinelli, Nketiah.

The fact that Arteta has a string of talent at his disposal also means he can afford to tinker with his tactics every now and then, especially for cup games.

Chelsea name 15 players they want to sell

Elsewhere, Chelsea could reportedly embark on a massive summer clear-out that could see the club offload as many as 15 players.

The Blues' summer transfer business has gathered pace in recent days, with the west London outfit sealing two major transfers in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Tuchel'ss side is now hopeful of signing both Jules Kounde and Prisnel Kimpembe from Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively, in the coming weeks
