Manchester United fans celebrated legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson by unveiling a special banner to mark the Scot’s 80th birthday celebration.
The banner was displayed before kickoff as Manchester United played host to Burnley in what was their last game for 2021 with the Red Devils winning convincingly to give Fergie an early birthday present.
Daily Star reports the banner featured an image of the Scotsman in his prime as United boss along with the message 'Happy 80th Sir Alex', a landmark which he is celebrating on New Year's Eve.
Supporters moved the banner across the stands at Old Trafford as the Scot watched on from his usual seat, and he looked delighted with the love shown towards him.
TV cameras caught him smiling at the gesture as the banner was passed around the stand by the United faithful.
Ferguson retired as Manchester United manager in 2013 and has served as the Club’s ambassador ever since.
