Real Madrid stars Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham are the two leading contenders for the 2024 Ballon d'Or award, and teammate Dani Carvajal appears to have sided with one.

Vinicius and Bellingham were standout players for Madrid after they helped the team win the La Liga title and a record-extending 15th UEFA Champions League title.

The English midfielder’s exploits came in his first season in the famous white jersey after sealing a dream £88 million move to Spain from Borussia Dortmund. According to Sportskeeda, he had 23 goals and 13 assists.

Carvajal picks 2024 Ballon d'Or winner

Football players and fans are divided on who should win the Golden Ball award between the two top performers of the just-concluded 2023/24 seasons.

Spanish right-back Carvajal, speaking to Marca, appears to tip the Brazilian winger for the award ahead of the England international, and he gave his reason.

“The one I see with the most options is Vini. He was injured for three months, but it has not mattered to him to score many goals and be decisive in the Champions League and the League. He and Jude may be the ones who win,” he said.

The six-time Champions League winner downplayed his chances of winning the award and set a condition that could see him win it ahead of his mates.

“Maybe if I score fifteen goals in the Euro,” he added.
