For all the enjoyment, success and achievements he has brought to football, Lionel Messi's fans have been yearning for the Argentine to do one thing - speak English.

Having been born in Argentina, a Spanish-speaking country, and moved to Spain at a tender age, Messi has almost never felt the need to learn English.

His press conferences, after winning the thousands of awards he has won, have always been conducted in Spanish.

Fans are, however, now convinced that the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner spoke English for the time. The video was part of the promotional content he has been involved with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence ahead of their widely-publicised movie, Bad Boys: Ride or Die.

"Bro has been fooling everyone for years so he can hide from the media,"

"I watched it again to believe my ears,"

@Libra said,

"We can’t hate on Messi; he is naturally loved."

@SomtoBekee took a satirical approach,

"Rooney, who? This is the greatest English football player to ever exist."
