Marcus Rashford has opened up on his emotional celebration after Manchester United beat rivals Manchester City to win the FA Cup at the Wembley Stadium.

Teenagers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo scored for United. A late goal from Jeremy Doku was not enough to give the Premier League champions a fightback.

The final was a repeat of last season, in which the blue side of Manchester won through quick goals by German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan at the start of each half.

The win ensured Erik ten Hag has now won a trophy in each of his two seasons as head coach at Old Trafford, the only manager post-Sir Alex Ferguson to do so.

Rashford explains FA Cup celebration

Rashford was seen in tears at the final whistle at Wembley yesterday, and fans had different opinions of what it meant as the winger had endured a difficult season.

As seen in a post on his official X page, the Wythenshawe-born forward uploaded a photo of himself in tears with a short caption: “People want to know what Man Utd means to me!”

The England international’s performances and numbers declined this season. He netted eight goals and provided five assists in 43 games in all competitions.

Even though he signed a new contract last summer, which runs until June 2028, with an improved salary of £375,000 per week, the club is reportedly willing to consider offers for him.

According to The Telegraph, an offer of £70 million will convince the Red Devils to part ways with him. Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly interested in him as Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappe’s replacement.

Mason Mount breaks Wembley curse

Sports Brief reported on Mason Mount breaking his Wembley curse after Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1 to win the 2024 FA Cup final.

The former Chelsea star had lost all six of his visits to the stadium for a final match, including four in Blue. He also lost the Euro 2021 to Italy with England.
