Youngest goalscorers in FA Cup final

1. Norman Whiteside (Manchester United)

Whiteside made history in the 1983 FA Cup final, becoming the youngest player to score a goal in that stage of the competition.

He helped Manchester United force a replay in the final against Brighton, assisting Frank Stapleton for the Red Devils' opening goal. The match finished 2-2, setting the stage for Whiteside's record-breaking feat in the replay.

He scored a header in the 30th minute to give Manchester United a 2-0 lead. He bagged the goal at the age of 18 years and 19 days to break the record for the youngest goal-scorer in FA Cup final history.

2. Robert M Christie (Queen's Park)

Whiteside broke the record previously held by Robert M Christie. He became the youngest player to score a goal in the FA Cup final back in 1884 when Queen's Park faced Blackburn in the championship match.

The Queen's Park star scored a goal at the age of 18 years, four months, and 14 days. He had to take solace in the fact that he broke the record for the youngest goal-scorer in an FA Cup final as Blackburn ended up winning that contest 2-1.

Christie's record almost lasted a century, with Whiteside breaking Christie's mark 99 years later in 1983.

3. John Sissons (West Ham United)

Sissons made history in May 1964, becoming the youngest player to score in an FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

He accomplished the feat at the age of 18 years and 215 days, becoming the youngest Englishman to score in an FA Cup final in the process.

He scored the Hammers' opening goal, helping his side record a 3-2 victory over Preston North End in the final.

Garnacho and Mainoo make history in 2024

Garnacho and Mainoo became the latest teenagers to find the back of the net in the FA Cup final, with the pair scoring both of Manchester United's goals in the 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Mainoo scored at the age of 19 years and 36 days, while Garnacho found the back of the net at the age of 19 years and 329 days.

They became the first teenagers to score in an FA Cup final since Cristiano Ronaldo achieved that feat in 2004 against Millwall, per CBS Sports.

Ronaldo was 19 years and 106 days old when he scored the opening goal in the 2004 FA Cup final.
