Victor Boniface has been praying ahead of the Europa League final between Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta on Wednesday, May 22, in Dublin.

The Nigerian forward travelled with the newly-crowned German champions to Ireland for the epic clash with Bayer Leverkusen seeking their second title of the season.

Boniface, who won the Rookie of the Year, could start against the Italian outfit after starring in the final league game of the season against Augsburg last Sunday.

The BayArena side are unbeaten in 51 matches and will be hoping to extend the run against Atalanta tonight.

Ahead of the match, Boniface posted a prayer on his social media pages: "Lord guide and protect us."

He also attached a cartoon story of his journey from the streets of Nigeria to playing in the final of the Europa League.

The former Union Saint-Gilloise attacker has netted five goals in the competition, including a late winner against West Ham United in the quarter-finals.

The 23-year-old has been a key figure for Xabi Alonso, scoring 21 goals and delivering 10 assists across all competitions, per Transfermarkt.

Boniface displays accolades after Bundesliga triumph

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Victor Boniface shared his achievements with Bayer Leverkusen in his first season after displaying his accolades on social media.

Boniface starred as the BayArena outfit won their first-ever Bundesliga title in magnificent fashion, going through the entire season without a defeat.

The 23-year-old was named Rookie of the Year for his outstanding performances for the club across the campaign.

Alonso opens up on benching Boniface

Sports Brief also reported that Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso explained why Victor Boniface has not been starting games following his comeback from injury.

Boniface and the team travelled to Dublin on Tuesday ahead of the final of the Europa League.

The Super Eagles star will be hoping he starts as seeks more game time before the season ends in Europe for the German champions.
