Erling Haaland is proving doubters wrong, thanks to an impressive stat against the Premier League 'Big Six'.

After a stellar first season with Manchester City in the 2022/2023 campaign, critics argued that the 23-year-old striker only scored against the so-called ‘small teams’.

The Norway international, however, will have something to say about that, as stats from this season shows he is one of the best marksmen against the Premier League’s Big Six.

Sports Brief explores the list of players with the most goals and assists against the league's top clubs: Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool.

Players with most goals, assists against EPL big 6

Erling Haaland: 8 goals, 3 assists

As mentioned earlier, Haaland has turned up for his team when it matters this season.

The 23-year-old’s 11-goal contributions against the Big Six put him above the rest of the pack, although the next player on this list arguably deserves more credit.

Anthony Gordon: 7 goals, 4 assists

Primarily playing as a winger, Newcastle United star, Anthony Gordon, has been a revelation this season.

Of the 11 Premier League goals he has bagged in the 2023/24 campaign, seven have come against the biggest clubs in England.

Cole Palmer: 7 goals, 1 assist

It comes as no surprise that Cole Palmer has made the list.

The England international has scored an impressive 22 league goals this season, and is just five goals behind Haaland, who leads the charts.

Seven of those goals have come against the Big Six. Palmer’s most memorable performance this season was scoring a hat trick against Man United to help Chelsea to a famous 4-3 win on April 4.

Jarrod Bowen: 4 goals, 3 assists

West Ham United star, Jarrod Bowen, has proven to be the difference for his team when they have come up against top teams this season.

He has seven goal contributions against the big guns.

Son Heung-min: 6 goals, 1 assist

Despite the infamous miss against Man City on Wednesday, Tottenham's Son Heung-min has had better outings against the Big Six this season.

Matheus Cunha: 4 goals, 3 assists

Another underrated player is Wolverhampton Wanderers star, Matheus Cunha.

According to Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old Brazilian has contributed to 22 goals for his side this season across all competitions. Seven of those contributions have come in the Premier League against the Big Six.

Joao Pedro: 4 goals, 2 assists

Brighton and Hove Albion star, Joao Pedro, has had six goal contributions against the Big Six.

These numbers are decent, but they become more impressive when you consider that the Brazilian has only made five starts against these teams.

Bukayo Saka: 3 goals, 3 assists

Like Haaland, Bukayo Saka has also been criticised for ‘ghosting’ during crucial games for Arsenal.

According to Stat Muse, his stats against the Big Six this season have improved slightly. He has three goals and three assists against them in nine starts.

The most lethal trios in the Premier League

Sports Brief also previously reported on the EPL's most lethal front threes this season so far.

City's Haaland, Phil Foden, and Julian Alvarez lead with a combined 55 goals from 37 games.

The list of Premier League trios also features Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle United stars.
