Thiago Silva's time in England is nearing its end.

Chelsea fans made sure they showed their love to the Brazilian legend on Wednesday, chanting his name after the game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Blues supporters sang in unison as they paid tribute to one of their key players in recent years.

Chelsea fans praise departing Silva

They repeatedly chanted, "Ohhh, Thiago Silva" after the final whistle was blown.

Silva stayed behind to soak in the applause from the away fans, knowing that this was his final road game for Chelsea in the Premier League.

He announced last week that he will rejoin Brazilian team Fluminense following the expiry of his contract with the Blues at the end of the season.

The 39-year-old signed a contract with the defending Copa Libertadores champions until 2026, per ESPN. Silva spent the last four seasons with Chelsea, during which he won three trophies.

He finally won the UEFA Champions League in the 2020-21 season, helping Chelsea beat Manchester City 1-0 in the final.

He also won the UEFA Supercup and the FIFA Club World Cup with the Blues.

10-man Chelsea edge past Brighton

Players and fans were in a good mood on Wednesday night as they escaped with a 2-1 victory over Brighton.

Cole Palmer opened the scoring for the Blues in the 34th minute before Christopher Nkunku doubled Chelsea's lead in the 64th minute.

They looked like they were on their way to an easy win but a moment of madness from Chelsea defender Reece James swung the momentum toward the Seagulls.

He picked up a red card in the 88th minute, leaving Chelsea with 10 men in the latter stages of the second half.

Brighton pulled a goal back in added time, but their rally fell short as the Blues extended their winning streak in the league to four matches.

Reece James facing suspension after red card

Sports Brief recently reported on Reece James' ban following his red card.

He is expected to face a four-match suspension after his sending-off against Brighton.

He was shown a straight red card for violent conduct after he kicked out at Joao Pedro.
