Legendary Nigerian midfielder, Sunday Oliseh, has reacted to Bayer Leverkusen's first-leg win over AS Roma in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals.

Victor Boniface was on the bench for the game as the German Bundesliga champions put two goals past the Italian Serie A side at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday evening (May 2).

Florian Wirtz and Robert Andrich's goals gave Die Werkself the perfect edge over Daniele De Rossi's side, as they put one leg into the competition's final.

Oliseh took to his official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on Bayer Leverkusen's win over Roma.

"For me, Bayer Leverkusen is the team that plays the most versatile football in Europe this season," he commented.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder also listed some of the things that make Xabi Alonso's side the best team in Europe this season.

"Ball possession, pressing, long-range shooting, compact defending when necessary & still [being] able to be envied by opposing fans. Exceptional players, with an exceptional coach in Xabi Alonso."

Boniface will be in contention for the second leg in Germany as Alonso continues to ease him back into the team after months on the sidelines.

The second leg of the tie will take place next week at the BayArena on May 9, according to a report by Soccerway.

Oliseh congratulates Boniface

Sports Brief also reported on former Super Eagles coach, Oliseh, congratulating Boniface after Leverkusen’s triumph in the German Bundesliga.

The 48-year-old took to social media to salute the marquee forward for his brilliance throughout the season, starring despite an injury setback.

The Nigerian striker was one of the best players in Xabi Alonso's squad this season and scored in their title-deciding win over Werder Bremen.
