Former Chelsea goalkeeper, Mark Schwarzer, has criticized Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi for his costly mistake, which led to Liverpool's second goal in a Premier League clash at Craven Cottage on Sunday, April 20.

Iwobi and Super Eagles teammate Calvin Bassey were included in the Cottagers' starting lineup alongside central defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

After a challenging week that saw the Reds crash out of the Europa League, Jurgen Klopp's team responded with a 3-1 win.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's excellent free-kick in the 32nd minute set them on their way, but they were drawn level in first-half stoppage time when Timothy Castagne scored his first goal donning Fulham colours.

Dutchman Ryan Gravenberch's first Premier League goal in the 53rd minute put the Reds ahead before Portuguese forward Diogo Jota scored in the 72nd minute to secure the three points.

After their second goal, Schwarzer highlighted that the Nigerian was at fault for the goal as he gave away possession cheaply after a loose pass to Harvey Elliott. Elliott then passed the ball to Gravenberch, and the Netherlands international bent a shot beyond Bernd Leno to restore the visitor's one-goal lead.

"It's a good finish from Gravenberch, fantastic, curled into the far post. Leno has no chance. It's a really poor pass from Iwobi," Schwarzer said on BBC Radio 5 Live, as reported on All Nigeria Soccer.

Head coach Marco Silva subbed off the Super Eagles international for Adama Traoré with five minutes remaining.

Fulham have claimed several notable victories at home this season, including upsetting Arsenal, Tottenham, Brighton, and West Ham.

Regardless, Liverpool's composed and largely trouble-free display will reassure boss Klopp that they could end his nine-year reign with a second trophy. As reported by the club's website, the German boss described the display as the best his team has produced at Craven Cottage during his time.

Sports Brief reported that Jose Mourinho was spotted watching Fulham and Liverpool at the stadium.

A photo shared online showed the firmer Roma boss keenly following proceedings.

His presence in the match sparked speculation that he could be angling for the job after Klopp's departure.
