Pitso Mosimane is one of Africa’s most successful coaches, and not many can compare themselves to the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss.

There is one manager who thinks he is not only on par with Mosimane but is better than him. That is former Al-Ahly boss, Hossam El-Badry.

Hossam El-Badry believes he did a better job than Pitso Mosimane as manager of Al Ahly.

As noted by Soccer Laduma, the 64-year-old recently compared himself to the South African, saying that he achieved more with the Egyptian outfit than Jingles.

It’s not just Mosimane whom El-Badry believes he is superior to, as the former Egyptian national team manager also listed previous coaches who didn’t do as good a job as he did.

“I am better than Mosimane, Rene Weiler, and Marcel Koller, and better than me is Manuel Jose with Al Ahly,” he said.
“Everyone knows my period with Al Ahly, and I achieved a local record, and all the records the team achieved were during my time.
“Mosimane achieved championships with the club in a short time, but from my point of view, I am better than him,” he added.

El-Badry’s time at Al-Ahly

The 64-year-old had three spells in charge of the club, leading them to great success during his stints.

Transfermarkt noted that he oversaw the Egyptian giants for 181 games, winning 133. He also won 12 trophies with the side.

Mosimane, on the other hand, was only in charge of the team for 102 games, winning 65 of those. He only won six trophies during his time there.

El-Badry compared with Guardiola

The former Egyptian national team manager certainly doesn’t lack confidence. His comments about being a better manager aren’t the only time he’s expressed that confidence, either.

In 2017, he said that many people compared him to Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, because of his style of play, African Football reported.

Mosimane returning to South Africa?

Could Mosimane be leaving Saudi Arabia and returning to coach a side in the DStv Premiership?

Chippa United Technical Director, Morgan Mammila, certainly seems to think that will happen.

Mammila recently claimed Jingles would be coming home next season, Sports Brief reported.
